Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. There are many: Green Shield, Medavie Blue Cross, Desjardins, Great West Life, Manulife, and Sun Life Financial insurance plans that are covered. Please contact your provider before the first counselling session to see if CCCs and/or RCCs are a part of your insurance plan and to verify how your plan compensates you for counselling services. Swell Counselling Services does not offer direct billing but I will be happy to provide you with anything you need to submit for possible reimbursement.

I recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

• Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

• Does my health insurance cover Registered Clinical Counsellors or Canadian Certified Counsellors?

• Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

• Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

• Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
